Hiring Hair Transplant Technicians Finding experienced, quality hair transplant technicians is not the easiest thing to do. I am not a fan of hiring technicians that have been trained by other hair transplant doctors, it has nothing to do with the doctors or the techs personally it just seems that I have to re-train them to our standards at Florida Hair Surgeons. I will tell you what I have done personally to staff our hair transplant surgeons, and what I do when I am hired to staff a clinic for other doctors. I contact the local nursing and medical assisting schools and ask them if I can be an extern site for their students, most of them are very open to this because their seems to be a shortage of extern sites. I get to interview the students, choose the ones that fit our pre-qualifications, and they work with our hair transplant clinic for up to 6 weeks. During this time we teach them the basics in hair restoration surgery, we introduce them to patient care, but in non-critical areas concerning the hair transplant. After their externship, if they have shown promise in the hair restoration field we hire them and they start a formal 18 month hair transplant training program. Part 2 of this will follow.
